ACO MultiDrain® MD
Commercial and residential applications
ACO MultiDrain® MD is a high strength channel drainage system designed to provide an economical solution for the efficient removal of surface water.

The system is suitable for use in a wide range of applications including commercial and residential developments, pedestrian precincts, landscaping and parking areas for all vehicle types. The channel unit is manufactured from ACO’s high strength polymer concrete and forms the main component of the system.
ACO MultiDrain® MD is a tough and robust channel drainage system which provides high chemical resistance and the lightweight design ensures quick and easy installation. As standard, channels are manufactured with UltraSTEEL protective edge rails. The UltraSTEEL rails, with their unique patented design, provide optimum channel protection and improved bonding between the channel sides and the surrounding pavement material.
The system is fully certificated, UKCA and CE marked to BS EN 1433:2002 from Load Class A 15 pedestrian areas, up to and including Load Class D 400 suitable for parking of all types of road vehicles*.
*This system is not suitable for carriageways of public roads or motorways.
Sizes & gratings
The ACO MultiDrain® MD system is available in three widths, 100mm, 150mm and 200mm and has both sloping and constant depths channels. You can choose from a range of traditional drainage gratings, solid covers and cross footpath drainage units to ensure a wide variety of applications are catered for.
Brickslot Gratings are also available to complement installations which require a discreet drainage system. To visualise how your gratings will look in your project click here

Do I need to use sloping base channels?
Pre-sloped MultiDrain M100D units are available where required, typically in areas subject to chemical leaks.
However, for most standard applications, level channels laid flat will usually be sufficient.
Do you offer a shallow outlet connection?
Yes. Level invert channels include a vertical knockout for pipe connection, or you can use the multifunctional end cap for a horizontal pipe connection.* When a sump unit is specified, multiple outlet options are available to suit different depths.
*Please note: MultiDrain shallow channel sections require a dedicated outlet unit for vertical connections. A horizontal pipe connection is not available for shallow units.
Is there a way to accommodate an upward slope towards the outlet point?
Yes. Pre-sloped MultiDrain channels are designed with a 5 mm fall per metre, up to a maximum channel run of 20 m. If the ground gradient is shallower than this, the system can be installed to discharge at the ‘high’ end.
Why does my channel have a different depth compared to the sump unit, and how can I connect them?
The channel should be installed so that its top edge aligns with the top of the sump unit. Sump units are supplied with a cut-out section that can be created after the channel is installed, allowing the two components to be connected correctly.
How can I create a T connection?
A T connection can be formed using the MD 0.5m length channel sections, which include cut-out sections on both sides to allow a channel of equal depth to be connected at 90°. For larger sites or higher capacity requirements, a universal gully can also be used.
Can I mitre the channel unit?
Yes. MultiDrain channels can be cut to length and mitred to achieve changes in direction. When doing so, ensure no sharp edges are left exposed and treat any cut metal to minimise the risk of corrosion. It is also important to cut both the grate and channel so that the grate’s anti-shunt feature remains aligned with the channel, and to ensure the Drainlock mechanism is retained.
Does ACO have a list of approved contractors?
No. ACO does not approve or recommend contractors, as we are not directly involved in the installation of the channels. We advise that any contractor is carefully vetted to ensure they have the relevant experience and are suitable for the specific works required.
