Case Studies in Ireland
Surface water solutions
ACO UK proudly offers it's full comprehensive suite of solutions across Ireland, including drainage channels, attenuation and blue roof systems, and our Wildlife Habitat range. Leveraging our extensive experience, we effectively manage water within Ireland. The following case studies showcase real-world examples of how ACO's solutions and services have successfully implemented effective water management solutions

Case Study: Data Centre
ACO recently designed, supplied and installed our ACO StormBrixx to a major Data Centre project in Greater Dublin. The project was challenging for all stakeholders, with foundation piles located within the footprint of the tank, and the system requiring to carry attenuated water during construction. The project required a system which could be manipulated around existing structures, and have high structural load capacity. StormBrixx solved these many issues with its uninterrupted access and modular build and ensures this critical business site is protected from flood events for years to come.

Case Study: Lifford to Castlefin Greenway
In 2023 ACO were called in to assist the designers and County Council with a drainage design for the Lifford to Castlefin Greenway. ACO’s KerbDrain solution allowed for a drainage system which ensured the removal of surface water, while having no visible drainage on surfacing, which naturally greatly impairs the use of the greenway for walkers/cyclsists. ACO are commited to supporting the nationwide investment in Greenways as we look to improve social and enviromental well being, by encouraging more people to walk and cycle. Our range of KerbDrain and CycleKerb offer designers and clients alike a cost effective solution, to what is often a complex problem.

Case Study: Residential Apartment, Dublin
With new planning rules to abide by in Dublin, the developers of a commercial three-story residential apartment building had to demonstrate that its scheme would have a blue green roof to obtain planning permission. This is where Beton Construction Services (Beton) and ACO Building Drainage (ACO) joined forces to create the first ever blue green roof in Dublin. Beton is a leading subcontractor in surface protection services in Ireland and was brought in by SCD Consulting as a nominated specialist contractor on the project to design and install the blue green roof. ACO provided consultation for the design of the blue roof attenuation system including hydraulic calculations and rainfall event modelling, and supplied its patented RoofBloxx system to form the blue roof attenuation tank that sits on top of the building’s roof.

Case Sudy: Port Expansion, Dublin
With a requirement to install a durable, heavy duty sealed drainage system for a new loading yard and Terminal 4, the ACO RoadDrain was specified fulffiling these requirments. The RoadDrain's monocast design offered improved safety and environmental protection, by removing the risk of a grating cover coming loose.
